How Do Neurotoxins Like DAXXIFY® Work?
Neurotoxins like DAXXIFY® and BOTOX® consist of botulinum toxin type A, which is derived from Clostridium botulinum. This toxin disrupts the chemical signals between the brain and the nerves that cause muscles to contract, such as your forehead muscles or the muscles between your eyebrows.
So, when DAXXIFY® is injected directly into the nerves that cause frown lines — medically known as glabellar lines — transmission is blocked, and these muscles can no longer contract. This not only smooths existing lines but also prevents new wrinkles from forming.
When you start a regular injectable treatment schedule, your skin can look younger and stay younger. These injections do not provide permanent results; however, maintenance treatments are easy and affordable, and they can help prevent the need for more invasive plastic surgery procedures.

DAXXIFY® vs. BOTOX®: Who Has the Edge?
While DAXXIFY® and BOTOX® Cosmetic address some of the same concerns and work in the same way, there are some key differences in their uses, which may make one more appropriate for you than the other.
Result Duration
While neither of these treatments offers permanent solutions for unwanted wrinkles, DAXXIFY® has the edge in the length of results. Studies have shown that DAXXIFY® can last for up to six months, and some patients have seen their results last longer than that.
This is significantly longer than BOTOX®, which is estimated to last between three and four months.
With DAXXIFY®, most patients only require two injectable treatments per year as opposed to three or four BOTOX® treatments.
Onset of Results
While both DAXXIFY® and BOTOX® offer quick, reliable results, DAXXIFY® appears to set in faster for most individuals, sometimes within a day or two. BOTOX® often takes seven to 10 days for the full results to show.
Safety
DAXXIFY® has been shown to present fewer side effects than BOTOX® Cosmetic and is generally considered to be a safer option; however, both injectable treatments are considered to be incredibly safe treatments.
Unlike BOTOX®, which is strictly made of botulinum toxin, DAXXIFY® combines the toxin with peptides to stabilize the injection. The Peptide Exchange Technology™ also contains no animal or human components, increasing its safety profile.
